Multiple Output Flyback Converter Design

DC-DC converters are mainly used to provide required output voltage by suitably controlling the pulse width modulated (PWM) signal given to the gate of the fast-acting power electronics switches. The flyback converter is one such popular isolated DC-DC converter topology used to obtain regulated output voltage in low power applications. They are used as power supply systems in space technology and in many other industrial power electronics systems, where having constant voltage is very much essential. This paper presents the practical implementation of multiple output Flyback converter with MOSFET as a switching device. The designed converter is observed to have a good output voltage regulation and higher efficiency for the wide input voltage range.

Battery Charger for Hybrid Locomotive

The paper introduces the concept and functionality of the battery charger – pulse rectifier control system for hybrid shunting locomotive. The locomotive producer is the company CZ LOKO a.s. The pulse rectifier operates in several modes including modes with charging of the traction battery from the alternator or from the distribution net, emergency mode or test modes. The paper presents the integration of the pulse rectifier into the context of the hybrid drive and the results of partial tests of drive control.

Pulse Width Modulation of Three Phase Inverters Based on Linear Programming

Traditional three-phase voltage-source inverters supplied by constant dc-link voltage usually utilize the space vector PWM to achieve maximum output voltage. This paper deals with optimization of inverter leg voltages using linear programming method. System definition is based on the relationship between the known voltage vector, which is demanded by an upper control loop and the unknown leg voltages which enter the carrier-based PWM block as modulation signals. A slack variable is introduced to the system as minimization objective, defining border for all leg voltages. Optimization procedure minimizes leg voltage maxima, and thus, the maximum utilization of the dc-link voltage is ensured. The theoretical assumptions have been verified by simulations as well as by experiments on laboratory prototype.

On the Design of Smart Home System

Smart Home (SH) technology, comprising smart devices in the home context. SH technology has demonstrated new and good contribution to increase safety and reliability, at the same time; it might have its own influence to change our living habit. Use of mobile phones is changing with the development of technology; it can be used for different purposes. With the help of a network, mobile phone can be used to implement the smart home by controlling the devices. The objectives of this paper are to implement a smart home by controlling electronic devices at home remotely and to get an alert on intrusion or movement around the restricted premises. The mobile phone is using the short message service (SMS) service available and the alerts are also received as an SMS mentioning the activity occurring around the premises.
